Different Strokes for Different Folks? Experimental Evidence on the Effectiveness of Input and Output Incentive Contracts for Health Care Providers with Varying Skills

چکیده
A central issue in designing incentive contracts is the decision to reward agents’ input use versus outputs. The trade-off between risk and return innovation production can also lead agents with varying skill levels perform differentially under different contracts. We study this experimentally, observing verifying inputs outputs Indian maternity care. find that both contract types achieve comparable reductions postpartum hemorrhage rates, but payments for were four times of inputs. Providers qualifications performed equivalently incentives, while providers advanced may have better output (JEL D82, D86, I12, J13, J16, J41, O15)

Classic financial agency theory recommends compensation through stock options rather than shares to induce risk neutrality in otherwise risk averse agents. In an experiment, we find that subjects acting as executives do also take risks that are excessive from the perspective of shareholders if compensated through options. Compensation through restricted company stock reduces the uptake of exces...
متن کاملDifferent strokes for different folks? Revealing the physical characteristics of smartphone users from their swipe gestures
Anthropometrics show that the lengths of many human body segments follow a common proportional relationship. To know the length of one body segment – such as a thumb – potentially provides a predictive route to other physical characteristics, such as overall standing height. In this study, we examined whether it is feasible that the length of a person's thumb could be revealed from the way in w...

There have been no randomized, clinical trials of acute or secondary...
